Fire ban in South Stormont

SOUTH STORMONT – With tinder-dry conditions and a couple of large fires, the fire chief is restricting all burning in the township.

The ban is effective immediately and includes all open air and recreational fires.

Fire crews were called on Wednesday and Thursday to brush fires south of the CNR tracks between Farran’s Point Road and Aultsville Road .

In one case, Fire Chief Gilles Crepeau said it started after burning by someone on on their property got out of control when the wind picked up, scorching ten acres of brush.
