Alexandria doesn’t make Hockeyville top 10

ALEXANDRIA – North Glengarrians won’t have a shot this time at winning upgrades to the Glengarry Sports Palace.

The “Home of the Glens” failed to make it into the top 10 communties for the Sportsnet Kraft Hockeyville competition announced Saturday.

The community was among 1,037 entrants looking to win $100,000 in arena upgrades and hosting a pre-season NHL game.

Those that made it into the top 10 are Morden, Man., Middletown, N.S., Bonnyville, Alta., Haliburton, Ont., Morinville, Alta., Chatham, Ont., Dawson Creek, B.C., St-Joseph De Beauce, Que., Goose Bay, N.L. and North Saanich, B.C.

Voting for those communities starts Saturday.

In 2010, Alexandria made it all the way in the competition before being knocked out during the pick for the final five.
