CORNWALL – Twelve culinary students are ready for the school of hard knocks.
The Eastern Ontario Training Board held a luncheon Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the completion of the 16 week Kitchen Helper program where the students were whipping up some culinary delights.
The program, part of the Ontario’s Youth Skill Connection initiative, gives youth 18-25 the opportunity to obtain hands-on skills as a kitchen helper.
The students will now be on a six week placement at places like the Cornwall Community Hospital, Cornwall Hospice, Schnitzel’s, NavCan, Love Love Food and the Harvest Restaurant.
Project manager Kimberly Vass-Lihou says the program has been an incredible opportunity for the students to obtain knowledge and experience – a perfect recipe for success.
The next phase of the Kitchen Helper program will be held in Alexandria next month. You can apply by phoning 613-932-0210 or email kimberlyvl@eotb-cfeo.on.ca
