CORNWALL – Three more members of The Art Gallery (TAG) board have resigned adding to the exodus.
Chairman Roland Besner, vice chairman Eric Covington and Marc Pilote have tendered their resignations.
In an interview with Cornwall Newswatch, Pilote says he decided to step down for health reasons.
Facing an upcoming surgery, “the bottom line is, it would take me about six months to recover and I couldn’t do very much for three so I felt I should retire,” Pilote said.
This comes a week-and-a-half after former newspaper journalist Greg Kielec resigned for personal reasons. He was replaced by Kevin Lamoureux.
The entire board walked away last year, prior to the establishment of this latest board.
Pilote was asked about the atmosphere on the board and the apparent trouble of keeping members. “Let me put it this way. The division on the board that I saw, as a former reporter, I can see both sides and I’m firmly in the middle.”
According to the Seaway News, there’s been an alleged “disconnect” between the board and Executive Director Sylvie Lizotte.
Lizotte has told the paper in the past that the departures are not because of her.
A call to Roland Besner was not immediately returned.
