CORNWALL – Two occupants of a mid-sized car had to be rushed to hospital by ambulance after an apparent t-bone crash on Vincent Massey Drive.

A black Hyundai Accent and gray Ford Fusion collided at the intersection of Tollgate Road around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Paramedics and firefighters worked to get two occupants out of the Fusion, which had a crumpled front end and the airbags had been deployed.

The driver of the Hyundai accent, which had major driver’s side damage, appeared to be unhurt and was able to drive off the roadway and wait for a police investigation.

The crash resulted in the afternoon rush of traffic on Vincent Massey Drive – both to and from Cornwall – detouring down Tollgate Road West for nearly an hour.

The condition of the people in the Ford Fusion and the extent of their injuries is not known.

The scene was cleaned up and traffic was back to normal by 3:45 p.m.
