CORNWALL – After a lifelong commitment to improving local education, Monsignor Rudolph Villeneuve will be posthumously honoured with a permanent plaque at St. Lawrence College.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Tuesday (Jan. 13) at 4 p.m. in the Aultsville Hall foyer on the Cornwall Campus.
In 1977, Villeneuve was a key player in securing provincial funding for construction of the Aultsville Hall and Aultsville Theatre on campus.
During his life he was a board member and chair with both the SDG Public Board of Education and the St. Lawrence College Board of Governors, as well as being involved with many other boards within the community. Villeneuve was the recipient of two Citizen of the Year awards, one in Cornwall and the other in Lancaster.
Villeneuve was a man dedicated to education, as well as the progression of education. Even after his death progress is being made in his name. Through proceeds raised from the Benson Charity Classic Golf Tournament, The Msgr. Rudolph Villeneuve Foundation, invested in revitalizing the St. Lawrence College Cornwall Campus.
