CORNWALL – With the introduction of new technology and services the Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) has become a safer, faster place to go for treatment.
The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is a performance monitor that allows the hospital to track and monitor its progress.
According to the CIHI, the hospital has greatly improved the mortality ratio with a standing of 76 compared to the national average of 85. A mortality rating of less than 100 means the hospital is performing better than the average.
As well as an improvement in the death rate, CCH boasts the shortest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) wait times, with nine out of ten patients having their MRI completed in 18 days. The provincial average is 82 days, two months longer than the average wait in Cornwall.
CCH is also below provincial average for wait times and infection rates in the emergency department, despite the high volume of traffic.
You can see more on the health care wait times on the province’s web page and CIHI’s web tool.
