Thetford-Mines spoils party for River Kings

CORNWALL – The Cornwall River Kings were shut out by Thetford-Mines Saturday night at the Ed Lumley Arena.

Isothermic goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur turned aside all 26 Cornwall shots to blank the River Kings 4-0.

Roughly 1,100 fans packed the arena for the second annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, where roughly 750 bears hit the ice at the end of the game.

They were collected by players from both teams and will be going to Sparky’s Toy Drive.

The River Kings had scoring opportunities during the game but went 0-for-7 on the power play, including a lengthy 5-on-3 in the first period.

This game follows a 4-3 victory on Friday night at home to Saint-Georges.

Cornwall is back in action Saturday Dec. 27 when the Laval Predateurs visit the Civic Complex.
