BAINSVILLE – Two Quebec men are facing charges after a contraband bust near Bainsville.

RCMP shared details of the Nov. 3 bust in their monthly contraband report, released Monday.

Officers with the Cornwall Regional Task Force were first tipped of that something was up after a boat travelled into the bay on the St. Lawrence River with no navigation lights on.

Two men were on the boat and were then seen putting cardboard boxes into a Ford van, once they reached the shoreline.

That’s when officers moved in to make the arrests, detaining an 18-year-old man from Huntington, Que. and a 20-year-old man from Valleyfield, Que.

They also seized 80 cases of contraband tobacco.

Both men were later released with a promise to appear in court in Janaury.
