Planned power outage goes off ‘without a hitch’

CORNWALL – As you go about your day resetting alarm clocks and microwave time displays, Cornwall Electric says their planned overnight outage to make repairs was successful.

Spokesman Mike Pescod tells Cornwall Newswatch the outage to allow Cedar Rapids Transmission (CRT) to make repairs to its lines went off “without a hitch.”

The work was even done more quickly than expected and the power was restored by 4:35 a.m., said Pescod.

The hydro utility had budgeted for a 45 minute window starting at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Cornwall Electric apologizes for any inconvenience and is thanking customers for their cooperation.
