CORNWALL – Cornwall’s ten polling stations are buzzing this afternoon, according to City Clerk Helen Finn.

“Very busy…lots of people coming out,” she told Cornwall Newswatch.

As of 1:30 p.m., roughly 3,400 people had cast their votes for mayor, council and school board trustee.

That doesn’t include the 3,203 people who voted in the advance polls.

In the 2010 election, a total of 13,338 people – or 44 per cent of eligible vogers – cast ballots.

There were a few hiccups today. “We had two technical glitches but we switched out the equipment and everything was backed up,” said Finn.

The polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight. Once the polls close, Finn anticipates the results should come out in 15-20 minutes.
