LONG SAULT – A second person has died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash on Highway 401, west of Long Sault.

Provincial police say the driver – 65-year-old Lynda Baynton of Bradford – died after being airlifted to hospital.

Her 2006 Chevrolet HHR was eastbound when it left the highway and went into the center median, striking a cement culvert and flipping on its side.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. just west of the Moulinette Road exit in South Stormont.

A passenger in the vehicle – 61-year-old Robert Smart of Etobicoke – died at the scene.

One lane of the westbound Highway 401 was closed for most of the afternoon and night. It reopened at 10 p.m.

Editor’s Note: This story is corrected from an earlier version. O.P.P. made a correction saying the vehicle was eastbound, not westbound as earlier reported.
