CORNWALL – SPCA officials are asking for your help in locating four young men after a large turtle was tortured last week.
Witnesses says they saw the four men, believed to be in their late teens, walking on Lennox Lane near Edgar Street on Friday morning (Oct. 10). They were carrying a box.
The men took a 20 lb. turtle out of the box and proceeded to throw it over a chain-link fence where it landed on the concrete deck of a community swimming pool. One of the suspects then jumped the fence and threw the turtle into the drained pool.
City municipal workers were able to retrieve the turtle that afternoon and took it to the SD&G branch of the SPCA.
The turtle has a cracked shell from head to tail as well as the underside of the shell. The turtle is getting veterinary care and has been moved to a wildlife rehabilitation center.
