CORNWALL, Ont. — A portion of Montreal Road will be closed part of this weekend for the Cornwall Triathlon. Police will be shutting down a section from Marlborough Street to Boundary Road to allow triathletes and duathletes to ride safely and run through the Le Village area and points east. The closure starts at 6 a.m. Sunday morning until roughly 12:30 p.m. People won’t be able to park on the portion of Montreal Road on Sunday morning.
Hundreds of athletes are expected to compete this weekend. There are $3,700 in prizes up for grabs for the top finishers in the Olympic distance Triathlon, Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon and the Sprint Duathlon. For more information to go the Cornwall Triathlon website.
The City of Cornwall says some secondary roads will also be closed this weekend for the Cornwall Triathlon. Bergeron Lane, Race Street, Cotton Mill Street and Harbour Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10:30 am on Saturday.
Cotton Mill Street, Harbour Road and the portions of Marlborough Street and McConnell Avenue south of Montreal Road will also be closed to traffic in addition to the section of Montreal on Sunday morning.
