Woman found dead in South Glengarry house fire

BAINSVILLE – A woman is dead after a house fire in South Glengarry.

Provincial police say the fire started around 11 p.m. Monday (May 19) at a home on Fourth Line Road, about 19 kilometers north of Bainsville.

“The home was fully engulfed when first responders arrived,” SD&G OPP said.

A 73-year-old man managed to escape the flames but a 95-year-old woman was found dead inside the building, police said.

Her identity has not been released by police.

An investigation is underway by the SD&G OPP Crime Unit and the Ontario Fire Marshal with help from the OPP forensic identification team.
