IROQUOIS – Two schools in Iroquois are closed today (Thursday) after Ontario Provincial Police say they received threats.
OPP say the telephone calls were made overnight “each threatening violence at schools.”
Seaway District High School (SDHS) in Iroquois and St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville were allegedly named by the callers.
The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and Upper Canada District School Board made the decision to close all Public and Catholic schools in Kemptville, SDHS and Iroquois Public School as a precaution after consulting with OPP.
Police can’t say whether the threats are legitimate and an investigation is underway to identify the callers.
“The OPP understands the concerns and stress this causes for students, parents, teachers and others in the community. We will continue to investigate these threats in an effort to hold the responsible individuals accountable,” the police force said in a news release.
