CORNWALL – Seven people have been charged following a drug bust involving the Cornwall Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police.
Police searched a home on Baldwin Avenue, north of Second Street East, on Wednesday night (Feb. 7) and seized cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids and other drugs.
Officers set off flash bang devices as part of their operation. “Distraction devices were used and heard. However, no guns were fired,” spokesman Rodney Wilson said.
A 43-year-old man from Cornwall, a 29-year-old woman from Chesterville, a 37-year-old man from Cornwall, a 32-year-old man from Ancaster, a 28-year-old man from Cornwall and a 30-year old woman from Cornwall are all facing drug related charges.
A 30-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on a separate warrant for not abiding by a probation order.
“This truly was a collaborative effort between the Cornwall Emergency Response Team, the Cornwall Criminal Investigation’s Division and members from the SD&G OPP Community Street Crime Unit,” Staff Sgt. Tracey Pilon said in a statement.
“A significant quantity of drugs were seized, preventing their distribution into the community.”
