Funeral for David Murphy next week

CORNWALL – Friends, loved ones and acquaintances will say their final goodbye to David Murphy next week.

The former councillor, broadcaster and champion of a number of local causes in the community died of lung cancer Sunday at Hospice Cornwall at the age of 50.

Visitation is taking place at the Lahaie & Sullivan Funeral Homes West Branch at 20 Seventh Street West on Tuesday (Nov. 22) from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

The funeral is Wednesday (Nov. 23) at 10 a.m. at St. Columban Catholic Church at 36 Fourth Street West and will also be streamed online.

An obituary notice says people who wish to make expressions of sympathy are asked to donate to a trust fund for his daughter, Julia, in care of his best friend, Mike Turcotte.

Donations are being received at the funeral home or a Turcotte’s Foot and Ankle Clinic at 1077 Pitt Street.
