Update on description of SUV in Ingleside hit-and-run

INGLESIDE – Ontario Provincial Police have released a more detailed description on a sport-utility vehicle involved in a hit-and-run near Ingleside last weekend.

SD&G OPP say they have narrowed their search and are looking for a grey 2012 or 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango that will have damage to the front passenger side. The passenger side mirror will also be missing.

Police had initially had a broad description of the SUV and no colour description at the time.

A pedestrian was hit along County Road 2 on Friday last week (Oct. 7) around 9 p.m.

The victim, last reported to be in critical condition, is unknown. They had been in an ICU of a local hospital.

SD&G OPP Const. John MacPherson told Cornwall Newswatch they don’t follow up with the hospital on a patient’s condition and the hospital doesn’t give that information due to patient confidentiality.

β€œThe only time that we would be doing an update on an incident like this would be if the victim happened to pass away or…(when) we have someone charged and arrested,” MacPherson said.

Police had no update on the person’s condition when they released the vehicle description yesterday (Oct. 14).
