OTTAWA – Two people from Cornwall have been arrested in connection to an international police investigation into child pornography.
The Ottawa Police Service announced this afternoon (Friday) that 23-year-old Doric Latreille and 22-year-old Jennifer Lalonde were arrested in Cornwall on Thursday.
Authorities say an investigation started in New Hampshire in July after reports of “incidents of” child porn possession, manufacturing, distribution and child luring.
“The investigation led police to believe a 15-year-old victim from New Hampshire and an adult male from Ontario were planning to meet for a sexual purpose,” Ottawa police said.
The Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit took over the case and was aided by police in Amherst, N.H., the Homeland Security Investigations branches in Ottawa and New Hampshire, OPP and the Cornwall Police Service.
Amherst, N.H. is about a two-hour drive northwest of Boston and almost 500 kilometers southeast of Cornwall, Ont.
Police also searched a home in Cornwall “where the accused were temporarily staying” and seized more evidence.
Latreille is facing a number of child pornography and child luring charges. Lalonde is charged with possession of child porn.
Both are appearing in court today (Friday).
