South Stormont election candidate event tonight

LONG SAULT – Voters in South Stormont will get to hear from all the candidates for mayor, deputy mayor and councillor tonight.

The South Stormont Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Meet the Candidates Meeting” at the South Stormont Township Hall on Mille Roches Road in Long Sault.

The event will have each candidate present their platform followed by a moderated question and answer session.

Spokeswoman Carol Delorme says all candidates for council have confirmed they’ll be there.

Running for mayor are incumbent Bryan McGillis and current deputy mayor David Smith.

Vying for the deputy mayor’s position are councillor Andrew Guindon and former councillor Richard Waldroff.

There are five people running for three council seats: incumbents Cindy Woods and Jennifer MacIsaac as well as Louise Leclerc, Reid McIntyre and Tammy Spittal.

The event starts at 7 p.m. tonight.
