Update 11:33 a.m. Saturday: OPP say the westbound lanes of Highway 401 have reopened. Eastbound lanes remain closed.
INGLESIDE – A driver has died after a single vehicle crash on Highway 401, west of Ingleside.
SD&G OPP say the crash happened just before 6 a.m. today (Saturday) in the eastbound lanes between Dickinson Drive and Upper Canada Road.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger was airlifted to an area hospital with what is described as non-life threatening injuries.
The driver’s name is being withheld until family is notified.
Highway 401 has been closed in both directions between Dickinson Drive and Upper Canada Road and detours are in place.
There is no estimated time for reopening though it will likely be closed for several hours.
