Youth arrested in Cornwall for school-based threat

CORNWALL – A young person has been arrested in Cornwall in relation to alleged threats to hurt another person.

A lot of OPP and Cornwall Police Service vehicles lined Robertson Avenue near Second Street West around 2 p.m. today where the arrest was taking place.

“It was based on a threat that was mentioned toward a female in relation to a school,” OPP Const. Serge Duguay told Cornwall Newswatch.

Cornwall police were assisting in the OPP operation.

Duguay said the nature of the threat was “to harm” the female.

He added that the accused and the intended victim knew each other and there is no threat to public safety.

Police wrapped up their work around Second Street West and Robertson Avenue around 2:45 p.m. Monday.

The youth was charged but details of those charges were not immediately available.
