MORRISBURG – As Ukrainians face the fallout from the war with Russia, a South Dundas man is trying to help them keep connected with loved ones.
Jason Dube of Morrisburg launched a $15,000 fundraiser in a bid to buy 250 solar USB chargers for people in parts of the war-torn country where there’s no power.
“My goal here is to try to help these people out that are being shot in their streets that are struggling to survive so if I can help them at least talk to their loved ones and have a way of powering their phones it’s one less thing that they have to worry about,” Dube said in an email to Cornwall Newswatch.
While millions of dollars in humanitarian aid, such as food, shelter, first aid and water are being brought in from other countries and the Red Cross, Dube felt the connectivity area was not being addressed.
