CORNWALL – Ten days have been set aside in April 2023 to continue the trial for a former North Glengarry tax collector facing fraud related charges.

Sandra Cameron is charged with breach of trust, mischief to computer data, fraud, false pretense and uttering a forged document

She has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Prosecutors allege Cameron falsified tax bills and certificates over a decade before she was let go by the municipality in November 2017.

The township estimates it lost over $1 million.

The trial started on Jan. 17 but with only nine days scheduled, the proceedings ran out of time.

The Crown still has about four people to take the stand under oath plus the defence may call witnesses.

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has set aside 10 days in April 2023 – eight days for testimony and two days for final submissions from the Crown and defence.

Judge Laurie Lacelle is hearing the case.
