GALLINGERTOWN – A North Stormont man is facing eight charges after a chase and standoff with police.

SD&G OPP say they tried to stop a vehicle on Thursday morning after receiving a call for help around 11 a.m.

The driver did not stop and police say, given the reckless driving, they did not give chase due to a risk to public safety.

The vehicle was later spotted, parked on Groves Road, where OPP believed they were dealing with an armed suspect who was wanted for previous crimes.

Several specialized units and crisis negotiators were brought in before he surrendered.

No one was injured.

A 42-year-old North Stormont man is charged with flight from police, resisting police, dangerous driving, making threats, criminal harassment, intimidation and failing to comply with a release order.
