OPP make arrest in historical sexual assault case in Stormont County

NORTH STORMONT – A nearly one-month investigation into allegations of historical sexual assault has led to 10 charges for a South Stormont man.

SD&G OPP say they started an investigation Nov. 16 concerning allegations of “historical sexual assault on several minors” and laid charges on Dec. 9 against a 48-year-old man from South Stormont.

The accused is facing four counts of sexual assault on a person younger than 16 years old, five counts of sexual interference and one count of assault.

The man’s name was not released in order to protect the identity of the victims, however investigators say “there is no risk to public safety.”

The accused will appear in a Cornwall court next month.
