CORNWALL – Two people accused of an armed robbery at the Lorneville Apartments two years ago have been acquitted of all charges.

Jose Acevedo-Ovando, 22, of Cornwall and Kimber-Lee Long, 27, of Gatineau, Que. had been charged by the Cornwall Police Service in October 2019 after they say a man was pistol-whipped and beaten.

They had faced charges of robbery with a firearm, break and enter and forcible confinement. Long had faced an additional charge of breach of probation.

The case was scheduled to go to trial this month.

But court records show both Acevedo-Ovando and Long were acquitted of all charges on Sept. 9, 2021.

The records did not state any reasons for the acquittal.

The Lorneville Apartments are at 1430 First Street East in Cornwall.
