ALEXANDRIA – SD&G OPP are looking for a “person of interest” in last week’s vandalism at the Alexandria cenotaph.

Several words were spray painted on the monument late last week, with police sharing details of the graffiti on Friday (Aug. 20).

OPP say they’re looking for a man in his 50s walking around Main Street South at the time of the vandalism.

He is described as 6 feet tall, heavy set and was wearing a white t-shirt with the slogan “As the sea dies we die” as well as blue jeans. Police add that he was carrying two bags.

That’s the same slogan that was used to deface the cenotaph.

If you have any information, call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The cenotaph has since been cleaned up by township staff.
