Mayor turned senator to address council

CORNWALL – Cornwall’s newly appointed senator for Ontario will speak to her former municipal colleagues tonight (Monday).

Sen. Bernadette Clement is scheduled to address council shortly after the meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Clement, who had been mayor since 2018 and a three-term councilwoman, resigned Tuesday (June 22) after being appointed to the red chamber by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Acting Mayor Todd Bennett will be leading the meeting.
