MORRISBURG – A man from Cardinal who robbed an Iroquois Circle K on two occasions two years ago has been given a one year conditional sentence.
Kasey Molson was sentenced in a Morrisburg courtroom last month (April 1). He was 36 years old at the time of sentencing but has now turned 37.
Molson was found guilty on two counts of robbery and two counts of wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a crime.
The Circle K convenience store was the victim of four armed robberies between November 2018 and February 2019. Molson and a co-accused, Travis Visser of Augusta Township, were arrested and charged Feb. 19, 2019 in relation to two of the robberies.
Court records show Molson was given credit of 310 days for pretrial custody on one count of robbery with a one-day sentence. The second count of robbery also fetched a one-day concurrent sentence (to run at the same time).
For the disguise with intent charges, each count fetched a six month conditional sentence to be served consecutively, for a total of one year. A conditional sentence means the person serves their time in the community under strict conditions, including reporting to a probation officer.
Molson is banned from owning or having weapons for 10 years and also had to provide a DNA sample to the court.
Following his sentence, he will be on probation for two years.
The four remaining charges, which included possession of a dangerous weapon and conspiracy, were withdrawn by the Crown.
