CORNWALL – It looks like builders are getting spring fever as the city saw housing starts jump in March.
The city issued building permits for 19 units – nine homes and 10 units in semi-detached setups or duplexes – for a value of $5 million.
There were 13 permits for $3.4 million in homes in February. In March 2020, there were eight family units built.
March building activity was driven mostly by non-residential construction with $8.5 million in building additions for three projects and another $1 million in renovations.
The overall total was 101 permits for $15.6 million in building for the month.
In the first three months of this year, Cornwall has seen just over $23 million in construction – about $2.2 million less than the same period last year.
