Two charged with cocaine trafficking

AKWESASNE – Two Akwesasne residents are facing drug trafficking charges after an investigation by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service’s Joint Investigation Team.

Officers searched a home on Cornwall Island on Friday (March 5) and seized 24 grams of cocaine, Canadian and U.S. cash, packaging materials and weigh scales.

A 32-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman are facing charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. The man is facing an additional charge of breach of probation.

The police force had been investigating the past two months into street-level drug trafficking.
