CORNWALL – A Cornwall man is accused of leaving a facility in the city in the midst of a coronavirus outbreak when he was ordered to self-isolate.

The Cornwall Police Service says the 73-year-old man was given a ticket yesterday (Jan. 26) under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act for failing to comply with an emergency order.

As part of its policy, the police force doesn’t identify people charged with provincial offences.

Police also did not say at what facility it happened Tuesday, but CPS spokesman Stephanie MacRae said it was an “assisted care housing facility” in the city.

The man was escorted back to the location, MacRae said.
