CORNWALL – A Cornwall man is facing 16 charges for allegedly assaulting his disabled daughter roughly seven years ago.
Cornwall police arrested the 40-year-old yesterday (Nov. 25) and charged him with four counts each of sexual assault, sexual inference, incest and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability.
The last charge relates to someone in a position of authority of a person with a mental or physical disability, who “counsels or incites” sexual touching without consent, according to the Criminal Code of Canada citation. It carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison upon conviction.
Police say the daughter, who was under the age of 16 at the time, was assaulted between 2011 and 2013.
The man, whose name was not released in order to protect the victim, will appear in a Cornwall court on Feb. 9, 2021.
