CORNWALL – The Mounties are searching for a boat and two suspects involved in a smuggling operation earlier this month.
Akwesasne police tried to stop the boat on Wednesday, Oct. 7 on the St. Lawrence River near Fraser Point around 6 p.m. That’s when two people on the boat dumped 20 garbage bags into the river as they made their getaway.
The RCMP says the bags contained contraband tobacco.
They are now looking for a grey-blue Hydro Yacht with a single outboard motor and the hull number AKW450.
The boat driver is described as roughly 25 years old with a slim build, fair skin complexion and dyed reddish-brown hair. The passenger was a heavy-set man with a brown mustache and black glasses.
If you have any information, call the Cornwall RCMP at 613-937-2800.
