Two more COVID-19 cases in EOHU region

CORNWALL – For the second time in as many days, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit region added two more COVID-19 cases to bring the regional total to 191 confirmed cases.

The latest people sickened with the virus are in the City of Cornwall and another in Prescott-Russell.

The area of Cornwall, SD&G and Prescott-Russell has added seven cases in the last three days after being stable prior to the middle of August. There are now 12 active cases.

Data from the integrated Public Health Information System shows infections spiked on Aug. 17 with five cases and two more the following day. Prior to that, the area was seeing one or two cases since mid-May.

Details on the latest cases were not available as the Eastern Ontario Health Unit will only have information available during its next briefing with reporters on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.

The number of people recovered remains at 168.

Here’s the breakdown of cases as of Wednesday afternoon:

  • Prescott-Russell 125 cases (107 resolved + 11 deaths)
  • SD&G 39 cases (36 resolved)
  • Cornwall 27 cases (25 resolved)
