Update Monday: Due to the rain, this work will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

CORNWALL – Drivers should be ready to deal with some major delays at an intersection on one of Cornwall’s busiest streets today (Monday).

Construction workers will be putting down the final layer of asphalt at Brookdale Avenue and Ninth Street West.

“Brookdale Avenue remains open, but delays are expected. Please avoid the area if possible,” the city said in a statement.

This is part of a larger months-long project to extend a water and sewer line up Brookdale Avenue to service the Brookdale North corridor between Tollgate Road and Cornwall Centre Road.

The paving work is starting at daybreak and should last until around 1 p.m., the city said.
