Standoff with Cornwall police ends with man’s arrest

CORNWALL – An early morning standoff with a man holed up in his house in Cornwall has ended peacefully.

Cornwall police officers with the Cornwall Emergency Response Team, crisis negotiators and the Cornwall Command Center were on scene at First Street East and Lefebvre Avenue after 3 a.m. this morning (Sunday), the force tweeted.

Approximately six hours later, police tweeted again that the situation had been resolved peacefully and that the man was taken safely into police custody at 9:25 a.m.

β€œThe CPS would like to thank the public and nearby residents for their cooperation and patience as police conducted this investigation, which has now been safely resolved.”
