SDSG – A local economic development agency will be receiving a portion of Ontario’s $3.3 million Rural Economic Development (RED) Program.

Cornwall and The Counties Community Futures Development Corporation will get $125,075, local MPP Jim McDonell announced Wednesday.

The money will be used to create a new consulting position within the corporation – a Technology Implementation Advisor – as well as “running diagnostics,” training and marketing to “provide expertise and advice to rural businesses to help increase skills.”

“I am pleased the government is supporting efforts that helps to grow jobs and open the doors to rural economic development,” McDonell said in a statement.

This was one of 58 RED projects that were funded through the first intake of the Ontario program.
