Cornwall man charged with human trafficking

CORNWALL – A city man has been charged with human trafficking.

The Cornwall Police Service started an investigation after learning a local man had been trafficking a female victim between August 2019 and last month.

Police say the accused came to police headquarters on his own yesterday (July 2), where he was arrested and charged.

Christopher Smith, 41, of Cornwall is facing one count each of human trafficking, material benefit resulting from human trafficking and material benefit from sexual services.

Smith is in jail awaiting a bail hearing in a Cornwall courtroom.
