LONG SAULT – With little rain and extremely dry conditions, South Stormont has put a burning plan in place.

The ban went into effect this morning (Monday, June 22) and covers all types of burning.

In neighbouring South Dundas, the fire department tweeted that it would have to implement a burning ban soon.

“If South Dundas does not receive significant rainfall soon, the municipality will need to issue a burn ban due to the extreme dry condition. Until then, please use extreme caution if burning,” the department said.

South Stormont is the first SD&G municipality to put a burning ban in place since recent heat wave.
