MORRISBURG – One person is dead after a two vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401, east of Morrisburg.
Provincial police say a passenger vehicle collided with a tractor trailer just before 5 p.m. on a section of the freeway between Upper Canada Road and Dickinson Drive.
The vehicle had three people in it, including the driver. One passenger died at the scene while another was transported to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries.
The driver was also taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The truck driver was not hurt.
The westbound lanes of the Highway 401 are closed between Dickinson Drive in Ingleside and Upper Canada Road in South Dundas. Detours are in place.
The eastbound lanes are not affected.
O.P.P. traffic collision investigators are on the scene trying to determine the cause of the crash.
