Severe thunderstorms possible for SD&G

Update 6:41 p.m. Wednesday: The thunderstorm watch has ended.

SD&G – Hot and humid conditions today (Wednesday) are setting up the potential for some severe and dangerous thunderstorms, Environment Canada said.

The agency issued a severe thunderstorm watch for SD&G around 12:10 p.m.

The expected high is 30 degrees with a humidex of 38.

Environment Canada says thunderstorms moving from the region this afternoon and tonight have the potential to become severe with damaging wind gusts, possibly causing power outages and torrential downpours.

A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when thunderstorms have the potential to produce hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
