CORNWALL – A section of the city’s busiest street will be closed this weekend to install water and sewer lines.

Brookdale Avenue will be closed north of Tollgate Road starting at 7 p.m. today (Friday).

It is scheduled to be closed until 5 p.m. Sunday.

Traffic will be detoured along McConnell Avenue.

People will still be able to access businesses along the stretch of road through the north end of Brookdale.

This water and sewer main installation is part of the $10.7 million project by contractor Louis Bray Construction from Vars, Ont. to put in waterworks between Tollgate Road and the Highway 401 corridor.

The city had to short term borrow for the project, which will be charged back to users along the stretch of Brookdale North through area-specific development charges and capital charges.
