CORNWALL – Some customers in Riverdale are temporarily without water tonight (Thursday) after a water main break near a city intersection.

Crews are on site just before 9 p.m. at the partially flooded intersection of Robertson Avenue and Second Street West.

The area has been under construction for a couple of days prior as part of a $450,000 water main relining project on Robertson from Second to Queen when something went wrong tonight.

“We need to get to the source of it, so we’re pumping out the water,” a department spokesperson said.

Water is shut off to homes in the immediate area and there’s no estimated time when it will be restored.

Crews are hoping they can pinpoint the problem and make a temporary fix to get the water back on.
