Two stolen vehicles recovered; two arrested in Highway 401 stop

LANCASTER – Provincial police have recovered two stolen vehicles and arrested two drivers after a weekend traffic stop on Highway 401 in South Glengarry, which resulted in a brief chase.

SD&G O.P.P. Highway Safety Division officers and the Street Crime Unit tried to pull over the vehicles on Sunday morning.

One driver complied with police but the other driver took off. But he didn’t get far before crashing in the ditch.

Both vehicles had been stolen from Toronto, police said.

A 26-year-old man from Montreal is facing a charge of possession of stolen property.

A 25-year-old man, also from Montreal, is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property and one count each of possession of proceeds of crime, fleeing a police officer, mischief and possession of break-in instruments.
