NEWINGTON – Residents in Newington are advised to start boiling their water today (Tuesday, Nov. 26) before drinking it.
South Stormont has put the boil water advisory in place as of 12:01 a.m. as the Newington Water Treatment Plant is being brought offline for upgrades. This may lead to low water pressure.
The work is expected to continue through Thursday.
Residents are encouraged to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, before cooling it for drinking and other uses.
The township is working in conjunction with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and will advise the public when the boil water order is lifted.
People affected have already been notified by door-to-door leaflets, the township said.
