Groups ask United Counties for thousands

SD&G – A number of local and regional agencies and groups have made their pitches to county council for money in next year’s budget.

Those presentations happened Monday.

Beyond 21 has asked for help with its $750,000 capital campaign for its new building at Tollgate Road and Pitt Street in the City of Cornwall.

Eric Duncan, spokesman for the community newspaper digitization project, requested another $100,000.

Maxville Manor wants a $1.4 million grant plus $300,000 a year for ten years for operations for its redevelopment.

The St. Lawrence River Institute requested $10,000 while Bill Smirle asked for $7,000 for the Morewood cenotaph.

The O.P.P. asked for $120,000 a year for a registered nurse for its Mobile Crisis Response Team.

The requests will go to 2020 budget talks.
