CORNWALL – A local man is running 100 kilometers this weekend as part of a fundraiser for the SD&G United Way.
Steve Mellios has never run a marathon, half marathon or 10K race, but felt this would be “the biggest mental and physical challenge that I have ever faced.”
His ultrarun is called “Steve’s 100 Reasons to Run.”
He will start at the Long Sault Parkway and head through the United Counties of SD&G overnight before he ends up at the United Way office on Water Street in Cornwall on Sunday.
“I’m hoping…I can inspire children and adults to chase their dreams and push towards becoming the person they want to be,” he said.
There will be a “show you local love” greeting at the east entrance of the Long Sault Parkway on Saturday (Nov. 2) at 4:30 p.m. before Mellios starts his run a half hour later.
Donations toward the event can be made here.
